How to Stay Healthy on-the-go
If you have a busy lifestyle, it can be difficult to maintain a healthy diet and make the right food choices. Staying healthy on-the-go is a common issue people are faced. Here are a few simple tips to help keep you on track. 1. Plan In Advance / Meal Prep If you have a busy week ahead of you, pre-planning your meals and what you are going to eat is essential. Take the time to decide what you will eat for the next 3-7 days including all your meals and snacks. Whether that includes eating out or preparing them yourself, writing it down is a good guide to ensure you stay on track.
If you are meal prepping, set aside a day (Sunday works for most people) and prepare your meals in divided portions or Tupperware so each day you can pack them and go. This tactic also helps with portion control!
2. Stay Hydrated Many people tend to forget to drink water. While on the run, we constantly reach for a second or third coffee to get us through the day. Not enough water (and too much caffeine) causes dehydration resulting in headaches, moodiness, poor digestion, low energy and increased hunger! Try to consume at least 2L of water per day to stay hydrated and eliminate any toxins or free-radicals - it even helps with weight loss!
3. Eat Consistently Skipping meals is okay when doing a pre-planned fast. See our Juice Cleanse Post. But waiting too long to eat on a regular basis can cause your blood sugar to dip too low. Plus, you're more likely to over eat when you do finally put something in your mouth. If you don't have time to sit down for a meal, keeping snacks on-hand to eat throughout the day will keep your metabolism working and your energy high. Raw nuts, fruits, vegetables or whole grain bars are great options. Try turning these healthy tips into habits and you're guaranteed to see a difference in how you look, perform and feel!
